Evoluto Automobili says development of its Ferrari F355 restomod is now complete, with customer production due to start in March.

The gorgeous model was first displayed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2024, with the tuner subjecting the car to a 12-month testing program. The program included 5000 miles of track driving, including an aerodynamic run of the car through Catesby Tunnel in Northamptonshire.

Only 55 examples are planned. Each one comes with a 20,000-mile or two-year warranty, which is quite a lot for a heavily re-engineered car of this type.

Exterior

One can see the subtle yet noticeable changes around the body. At the front, there is a larger grille and a carbon-fibre lip. The sidelights and the original pop-up headlamps have been replaced with LED units. Around the back, a prominent diffuser sits below ring-shaped LED brake lights.

All the new panels are carbon-fiber. That material switch cuts curb weight from 1422kg, as recorded for the original Ferrari F355 GTS, to what Evoluto describes as a “target” of 1250kg.

The chassis is also spot-welded and reinforced with carbon-fiber bracing, and its torsional stiffness has increased by 23%. The reinforcements are concentrated around structural hard points, including the suspension mountings.

Complete Powertrain Information

The supercar`s 3.5-liter V5 engine has received some power tweaks that significantly increase its power. There is a new ignition system in town with more precise ignition tuning, which improves responsiveness. Also, the updated cylinder head improves airflow, while a bespoke camshaft stabilizes performance at high revs.

The quill shaft was also replaced with a strengthened component developed by Evoluto. Thus, the tuner improved the connection of the engine to the gearbox, which was known as a weakness in the standard form.

A full-length titanium exhaust system with equal-length headers completes the package and is said to provide an “emotional” sound.

Total output rises to 420bhp, up from the original 380bhp factory figure. When introduced in 1994, that 380bhp unit was described as having the highest specific output of any engine on the market. Power is sent through the original six-speed manual gearbox, which has been modified for improved shift feel.

Other Specifications

What’s highly noticeable is that the suspension now adopts a wider track, which is to ensure a better power-to-weight ratio. Other significant changes that enhance the car`s braking system refer to upgraded Brembo slotted or carbon-ceramic discs. Also, the car`s grip is enhanced thanks to the new 19-inch wheels fitted with road-biased Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Evoluto has not chased absolute stability. Instead, it has tuned the chassis to allow some slip from the rear end.

Conclusion

With production limited to 55 cars and buyers able to specify custom paint finishes and interior upholstery, the Evoluto 355 blends structural reinforcement, reduced weight, and a 420bhp V8 into a restomod that has been tested extensively before reaching its first owners.
