Auction-Bound Ford Bronco with Armor-Like Finish Finds Few Fans

The cool Ford Bronco is back in the news with another interesting tuning program, with the model ending up in action in the United States. It is actually a 2025 Big Bend edition, the off-roader attracting a lot of attention with its exclusive build around the body.

The vehicle was transformed by SoFlo Customs and stands apart from virtually any other Bronco on the road thanks to its unusual exterior treatment. Covering the body is a matte Abyss Blue armor-style coating that gives the SUV an appearance more commonly associated with digital renderings or video game graphics than a production-based vehicle. Judging by reactions surrounding the auction, however, that dramatic finish did not win over everyone.

One comment highlighted by the auction audience summed up the sentiment rather bluntly: “I think the seller should be forced to keep this and live with their horrible choices.” Harsh as it sounds, the remark reflects a reality often faced by heavily personalized vehicles. A modification package may perfectly suit the original owner’s taste, but finding another buyer willing to pay for the same vision can be far more difficult.

The Bronco’s changes extend well beyond its distinctive surface treatment. The SUV rides on a 3.5-inch suspension lift and uses 20-inch Silver Apoc wheels wrapped in 37-inch tires. Additional upgrades include an aftermarket front bumper fitted with LED lighting, Rough Country steel side steps, and another set of off-road lights mounted above the windshield. The audio system has also received attention, receiving an upgrade over the standard setup.

Mechanical revisions appear to be part of the package as well. Under the hood sits Ford’s 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. According to the auction listing, output should exceed the factory rating of 275 hp and 315 lb-ft (427 Nm) of torque. No dyno documentation accompanied the vehicle, though the listing notes the presence of an Evolv performance chip and a Turbosmart Kompact blow-off valve.

Inside, the differences continue. The cabin features dark brown and black weatherproof upholstery covering both the front and rear seating areas, creating a look that differs substantially from a standard Bronco Big Bend.

What makes the story particularly interesting is that the Bronco’s unusual appearance may have become its biggest obstacle. The armor-style Abyss Blue finish ensured the SUV stood out instantly, but standing out and attracting bidders are not always the same thing. In this case, the modified Bronco reached the auction block, drew plenty of attention, and ultimately left without a sale.
